London! The Good, the Bad, and the Ugly

London is now a true World City. Forty percent of Londoners were born overseas. The city has overtaken New York to become the globe’s number-one melting pot, with 250 different languages spoken and is the preferred destination of those wanting to create a better life.

Ironically, the relative safety of London’s streets, its rule of law, and unrivalled cultural offer means that London hosts the second homes of tyrants, dictators, oligarchs, plutocrats and robber barons from across the planet.

London has always been full of contradictions. A birth place of parliamentary democracy, which rose to global trade domination on the back of slavery. London’s thinkers led the enlightenment, while its most famous corporation, the East India Company, ravaged one Empire and hooked another on opium.
